Aleluia, novas peças a caminho!

Na minha última pesquisa de rotina no site do LDraw para ver se havia alguma novidade na estagnação de peças novas, finalmente há novidades!

The LDraw.org team are pleased to announce progress towards restarting the regular publication of Parts Library Updates. The complete library has been re-issued with all the file headers now compliant with the new Official Library Header Specification. An important element of this re-issue is the identification of part files that are not re-distributable, having been created or received major contributions from authors who could not be located or who did not affirm the Contributors Agreement.

In addition to separating the parts that are not re-distributable, we have taken the opportunity to separate two additional classes of part files and make their installation optional in a new Windows installation package.

The Alias Parts Library includes generic colour versions of parts that are physically identical to parts in the core parts library, but have a different part number.

The Physical Colour Parts Library includes hard-coded colour versions of parts or composite parts.

The Windows install package for the new library can be found on the Library Updates page. Work is continuing to make this available for Mac and Linux users.

I'd like to thank everyone on the LDraw SteerCo and LDraw Standards Committee who have helped to make this happen.

Era bom era que inventassem uma maneira de incluir as peças do LDraw no LDD. O LDD é muito mais fácil de trabalhar e com todas as peças que já existiram, ficaria bem melhor.

Teoricamente isso seria possível... se mudares a extensão de cada peça para LDR em vez de DAT, talvez dê para as importares para o LDD. Mas, pelo que me parece, cada vez que usasses uma peça no LDD todos os dados dela seriam repetidos (em vez de ser acrescentada só uma referência à peça, como no LDraw), o que daria origem a ficheiros elefantescos!

The 2009-01 LDraw parts update has been now been released.

This update includes 671 files in the core library, including 307 new parts, and many more files updated with improvements for Back Face Culling support. A total of 19 parts have been redeveloped by authors who have affirmed the Contributor Agreement, replacing files that were not redistributable.

In addition, there are 6 new alias files, which are synonynms for existing parts with new numbers as used by LEGO Digital Designer. These have been included deliberately to assist with inter-operability between LDraw and LDD. Thare are also 23 new files in the "physical colour" library, the descriptions for which are prefixed with an underscore character to prevent them bloating the parts list of applications like MLCad.

With the co-operation of Don Heyse, the new download includes version 1.4 of mklist.exe which provides support for 64-bit Windows systems.

Thanks are due to all the authors and reviewers who contributed to this release, and for everyone's patience over the last three years, during which time no new parts have been released. We have spent this time standardising the file header structure, formalising the redistribution rights, and streamlining the parts update process. Consequently this process is now back on track and further parts updates are planned for 2009.

You can preview the new parts in 2009-01 and download the update by going to http://www.ldraw.org/library/updates.

There are still 160 certified files on the LDraw Parts Tracker, many of which were held back from this update, following our normal practice of not releasing new primitives or subparts until they are needed for an official part file. There are another 800+ files waiting for admin review, which I will tackle in preparation for another release later this year.

Na prática, significa que já se pode descarregar daqui o novo conjunto oficial de peças, que passou a incluir também estas.

Também há aqui uma actualização para o ficheiro MLCad.ini, para as peças novas de minifig poderem ser usadas no Minifig Generator do MLCad.
