LEGO’s Chinese New Year 2022 sets
The LEGO Group has published better images of 2022’s Chinese New Year sets, giving us a closer look at what’s included in the colourful models.
Revealed over the weekend at the fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE), 80108 Lunar New Year Traditions and 80109 Lunar New Year Ice Festival will both join the Chinese Traditional Festival theme in 2022, following on from this year’s 80106 Story of Nian (review) and 80107 Spring Lantern Festival (review).
The smaller of next year’s sets includes six buildable and reconfigurable modules, each of which celebrates a distinct custom of the Spring Festival, including shopping, creating ‘good luck’ decorations, exchanging ‘Hongbao’ red envelopes, and watching the countdown to the new year.
80109 Lunar New Year Ice Festival, meanwhile, takes its cues from 80107 Spring Lantern Festival in creating a sprawling, colourful diorama, populated with an abundance of minifigures to skate across the frozen lake, play hockey, sled with penguins and take photos at a pavilion. This set also includes this year’s mascot-style minifigure, representing the Year of the Tiger.
The Chinese New Year sets weren’t the only products unveiled at the CIIE, however: the LEGO Group also revealed a first brand new Monkie Kid set coming next year, along with three more LEGO Super Mario Expansion Sets and a new series of blind-bagged Character Packs.
“We are thrilled to unveil a record number of new products at the CIIE as we celebrate the power of play and children’s creative resilience at the important expo,” said Paul Huang, Senior Vice President of the LEGO Group and General Manager of LEGO China.
“We bring sets inspired by Chinese cultures and traditions, and also products that enable people to reimagine the LEGO building experience. We will also leverage the CIIE to showcase the creative potential of children, who are the masters of creative problem solving, showing how they can develop essential life skills through play.”
Both of the Chinese New Year sets will be available to purchase in the Asia-Pacific region from December 25, while a wider international release will likely follow in January (though a specific date has yet to be confirmed).

Ainda bem que também estão disponíveis para a Europa no início do ano de 2022, porque são uns sets bem coloridos.

Re: LEGO’s Chinese New Year 2022 sets
Aquelas peças no arco do 80109 serão em trans-medium-blue? Acho pouco provável, mas a esperança é a última a morrer...
