)Why does the basic LEGO brick have a 5 x 5 x 6 proportions, instead of the seemingly more logical 1 x 1 x 1?
This makes building in directions other than "piece-stacked-on-piece" much harder and unnatural.
It seems to me that TLG has already noticed this limitation, because practically all new TECHNIC sets, a theme that has a natural tendency to be built in odd directions, use the "studless" class of pieces, whose proportion is 1 x 1 x 1.
I acknowledge that, after so many years of 5 x 5 x 6, a change in basic brick proportions would result in a monumental break in retrocompatibility, and nobody, especially AFOLs and TLG themselves, would want that. Yet, as a matter of curiosity, I'd like to know the reason(s) behind such a design choice.
Porque é que o brick básico LEGO tem a proporção 5 x 5 x 6, em vez da aparentemente mais lógica 1 x 1 x 1?
Isto torna construir em direcções diferentes do "peça-encaixada-sobre-peça" muito mais difíceis e pouco naturais.
Parece-me que a TLG já reparou nesta limitação, porque praticamente todos os sets TECHNIC novos, um tema que tem uma tendência natural para ser construído em direcções estranhas, usam a classe "studless" de peças, cuja proporção é a 1 x 1 x 1.
Reconheço que, após tantos anos de 5 x 5 x 6, uma mudança na proporções básicas dos bricks resultaria numa quebra monumental de retrocompatibilidade, e ninguém, especialmente os AFOLs e a TLG propriamente dita, quereria isso. No entanto, como curiosidade, gostaria de saber a(s) razão(ões) por trás de semelhante escolha de design.
